Burnout is no joke. If you’ve ever got to the point of complete exhaustion that causes intense brain fog, zero energy, aching limbs, and severe fatigue, you’ve experienced burnout. However, for some, burnout might not be as obvious and hence, they carry on until they reach the extreme point.

What Causes Burnout?

Burnout is easily caused by a lack of self-care. If you don’t put your health first, your mind and body might be susceptible to burnout.

When you are sleep deprived, don’t eat well, work too much, don’t allow rest, and lack enjoyment for life, it can cause regular bouts of burnout. You need to know the signs so that you can take the best care of your health and well-being.

Inability to think clearly

On a normal, tired day, you might experience brain fog. Thinking of solutions or achieving complete focus might be tough, but you can pull through. However, when you reach the burnout stage, the inability to think can become so intense that it is difficult to hold a normal conversation or think for yourself.

No enthusiasm for daily rituals

When you get to a point of extreme burnout, you might notice that you have no enthusiasm for everyday rituals/tasks. Showering, getting dressed, and doing your usual routines might feel exhausting and pointless.

Feeling numb

When you are exhausted, you can feel irritable. You might find yourself getting annoyed at things that you wouldn’t normally do. While this is an early sign of burnout, when you become numb to your emotions, you should be alarmed that you are dealing with severe burnout. You should be able to stay in touch with your emotions to look after yourself and attend to your needs.

Whether you run your own business or are an employee, if you notice that you become incapable of doing your job, you might be dealing with burnout. Usual tasks might seem impossible, which can be a sign that you are severely exhausted.

You all need rest. Rest is productive as it allows us to reset and avoid extreme exhaustion. You can’t get through life successfully without rest, so priortise it.

Adjust your daily routine

You need a balanced and caring daily routine if you want to stay on top of your game and avoid burnout. Things like:

  • Getting more sleep
  • Eating nourishing foods, fulfilling meals, and snacks
  • Drinking more water
  • Indulging in a daily hobby
  • Moving your body more (gentle exercise is enough),

can all help to avoid burnout.
